My friends an I joined JourneyingJames Tour last January 28-30. The itineraries were beach bumming in Calaguas Island and surfing in Bagasbas Beach.
I was really excited because this would be my first time to join a big group for a tour. Yes, I was excited to see Calaguas and looking forward to meeting new people as well.
Weeks before this trip, rain was all over, typhoon was here and there. Monday to Thursday, before our set tour, the weather became very pleasant. Mr. Sun had finally showed up. Friday, it was announced that a new tropical depression has landed in Philippine Area of Responsibility. I never minded. I was still positive that our trip wont be affected not until it was announced that Bicol Region was the center of the storm. Now what?!? Well, we had a safe road trip from Manila to Bicol despite the rain, but what was disappointing was we were all in the boat ready to face the waves to reach the beautiful Virgin Island of Calaguas, but we were stopped by the coastguards and were not allowed to push through. You could just imagine how sad our faces were. But we could only comply, afterall we are talking about lives here. No one can be put at risks. With the wind, rains and the sea beyond our control, everyone would want to be saved. So there went the change of plans and we were brought to this humble place, Pulang Daga Cove. We set up our tents, had one cottage were we can all eat and had one room to keep our important stuff.
It was raining the whole day, so our choice was just to get wet. The beach was ordinary, but to it's residents, it's their sanctuary . Though it was raining, we could not let ourselves just do nothing and wait till the day is over, my friends and I swam. Yes, the waves were powerful enough to throw me in the sand. hahaha. But it was fun. We had lunch and dinner boodle fight way. Some ended the night in the tent with the swamping of the waves and wind, with dogs barking and the rain falling. Me, i had such a good sleep inside the Van.
